Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's first female artist with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The first single, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released on Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music online in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the internet including her independently launched single Bound. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team in the following year, as he wanted Rihanna to work together on a few references. On December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance for J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, Ari Lennox guested on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. The music video later released in September. Then, in November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two additional singles were also released by her on November 13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. It was released with the music video which debuted on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube within one week. In December 2018 she was a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
